Adolescent and Teen Counseling

Adolescence comes with it's own set of difficulties and stressors.  Developmentally, teens struggle to express and name their emotions, resulting in turmoil, depression, and struggle.  Teens greatly benefit from having someone to talk to and help give them through a variety of issues.

When teenagers are faced with challenges outside of their control, they react to the environment they are faced with. Struggles with bullying, family discord, trauma, social stress, depression, anxiety, may manifest as anger, aggression, and mood changes.

A counselor can help a teenager develop coping skills and self-awareness to help guide them through difficult times.

Marked distress and problematic behaviors are often manifested in the following ways:

- Excessive anger

-Changes in mood and behaviors

-Drop in academic performance or poor school attendance

-Self-harming behaviors

-Eating disorders

-Bullying behaviors

-Substance use

-Difficulties sleeping or sleeping too much

-Lack of interest in usual activities
